"Thanks
for Nothin' Mr. President"
Hey
Puddinhead....Did You Know???
The Stooges have attained everlasting popularity
since their films were released to television in 1959. But they have
never made a cent on residuals or royalties, due to a clause in their
contract. "When we made our deal in 1934," Moe recalled, "there was
no TV, and the studio had a clause in our contract that gave Columbia
rights to our voices, our likeness, and son on…into perpetuity. That
means forever." In 1960, the Stooges addressed the Screen Actors Guild
in an attempt to gain TV royalties for pre-1960 movies. They were
rejected. The president of the Screen Actors Guild at the time? Ronald
Reagan.
