In the 1960's, Moe Howard tried to persuade
Columbia Pictures to sell him rights to the Stooges short subjects
for several million dollars. Columbia practically laughed him out
of the office. And no wonder…The studio earned hundreds of millions
of dollars from those old films, and the money continues to roll in.
The Stooges themselves, however, each made less than half a million
dollars, total, over a period of 24 years. Today, most major television
stars earn more than that in a few months.
